With zWorkload Reporter you have the possibility to report and present your consumption data and all of your WLM goals in meaningful graphics. These graphics, along with the knowledge of mainframe performance, enable you to make WLM decisions at any time and to evaluate problem situations.

The challenge

To run your mainframe on a reasonable and low MSU level, it is necessary to optimize your WLM- and capping settings. It is a common problem that either you have no opportunity to create appropriate graphics as a basis for decision making for your WLM goals or that there are tools which assume expert knowledge just for the creation.

Making workload behavior transparent is essential for all decisions.

Because of that we wanted to create an opportunity with which practically everyone, also from the specialist departments, is able to check and to monitor “their” workloads with regard to achieve their objectives.

Functional principle

zWorkload Reporter consists of two components: One of them is the extraction program which collects the necessary performance data on the host by evaluating various SMF records. The other one is a PC component so that the Mainframe is not additionally burdened by storage and performance evaluations and additional costs are prevented.
With this technique we are able to upload historical performance data in the zWR Reporting Framework. Because of that we can generate meaningful graphics right from the start.
The access to the evaluation of your mainframe performance data is web-based, i.e. no software installation is required on your workstation devices. Access is also possible via all common mobile devices.
